![]() ![]() The app is supposed to support all popular photo formats. Visit their website for a list. It was also very intuitive to use – no manual needed. The help of Lyn talks about opening images with a custom app by pressing E (in the Shortcut section of the help) but I cannot find a way to set a custom app (but that might be because I only have the free trial version which is missing some features).Overall, Lyn is an easy to use, free photo browser. The app was also very stable for a beta app. It did not crash on me at all. It also supported all of the file types that I use: Canon Raw, Nikon Raw, tif, and jpeg. For multi-level menus (like the 'Open with') just enter the last level, for me that is "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1", and finally enter a shortcut of your liking (that is not yet used by something else inside Lyn or by something else as a global shortcut, Lyn already uses cmd-E, shift-cmd-E however is still available) by simply 'typing' the shortcut. Hit the plus sign, select Lyn as the application and enter the precise name of the 'menu' you want to add the shortcut to in there. Once PS shows up in that submenu you can add an application-specific shortcut via System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts. As others have said, rebuilding Launch Services might fix that (if you don't want to use the command line, utilities like Onyx or Cocktail offer a UI for that task).īasically, using the shortcut "E" I want to be able to send any image to Photoshop for further editing. Photoshop should appear on that list (LR not as you cannot 'open' images with LR you can only import images into LR). This has already been populated with a number of graphic programs stored on my Mac, but I actually want it to show my copy of Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom, which don't appear on the list. However, one quick thing that I cannot work out is the right click fly out menu with the "open with" context. If that works, repeat the process on another image file using Lightroom as the target application. This might be enough to tell the operating system that Photoshop is a suitable application to open image files. If it doesn't show up in the list of options, select "Other", and then navigate to the location of the Photoshop application to select it. In that info window, select "Open with" and select Photoshop CS6. In the Finder, select a image file, and do a File -> Get Info, which will open a info window. I have not used Lyn, so I don't know if the following suggestion will work or not, but it is worth a try. ![]() Am I missing something obvious, or does the program not allow you to modify this feature ? Try as I might, I can't seem to find a way to modify the "send to" list, either from preferences or anywhere else in the program. Basically, using the shortcut "E" I want to be able to send any image to Photoshop for further editing. Whilst not as quite full featured as Faststone it certainly does what I need. So in my search for a Mac alternative I came across "Lyn". One thing however like a lot of people is that I miss the "Faststone" image viewer app on Windows. Hi all, as a very recent convert to a Mac (new 13" Macbook Pro Retina), I am now a total convert.
